Most visitors see Niagara Falls in daylight — powerful, beautiful, and unforgettable. But after dusk, the falls undergo a transformation that few people witness. Every night, Horseshoe Falls and the American Falls are bathed in sweeping beams of colour: deep reds, electric blues, emerald greens. The mist glows. The roar of the water takes on a different character entirely. This 3-hour evening tour is designed around that moment — a quieter, more intimate version of Niagara that most tourists completely miss.
Illumination Schedule: The falls are lit nightly from dusk until midnight, year-round. Weekend fireworks (May–Sept) are an additional highlight when your evening tour coincides.
Your guide picks you up approximately 30–45 minutes before sunset so you arrive at the falls at the perfect moment — just as the illumination begins to take over the sky. Timing is everything on this tour.
Stand at the edge of Horseshoe Falls as the illumination lights transform the water. The colours shift slowly — deep amber, royal purple, brilliant white — and the mist above the gorge catches the beams in a way that photos can barely capture. This is the centrepiece of the evening.
Looking down on the illuminated falls from 236 metres above is a completely different experience to the daytime view. The gorge glows, the city lights stretch to the horizon, and on clear nights the glow of Toronto is visible on the lake. Stunning for photographers and non-photographers alike.
A scenic evening drive along the Niagara Parkway with the lights of the falls visible across the gorge. Your guide will point out key viewpoints and share the history of how and why the falls illumination began — a story dating back to 1925.
End the evening on Clifton Hill — a completely different beast after dark. Neon signs, street food, bustling energy. We give you 30 minutes to explore, grab a bite, or simply soak in the atmosphere before your return drop-off.
A relaxed evening drive back to your hotel. The perfect way to end your Niagara day — or to begin the evening if you want dinner out afterward.
From May through September, Niagara Falls runs a fireworks display every Friday and Sunday evening over the gorge. If your evening tour falls on one of these nights, you'll witness the falls illuminated and fireworks exploding above the mist — an extraordinary combination. Let us know your dates and we'll flag whether fireworks are scheduled.
